Recognizing the demand for fresh and locally grown fruit and vegetables, the Horton Fruit Company continues to dedicate resources to expand its growing and sourcing operations. Today, this local growing initiative has expanded to include over 600 acres of farmland and 15 family-owned farms.

Grow Farm The initiative started with the formation of Grow Farms, a grower and distributor of high quality, regionally grown fruit and vegetables. By leveraging its extensive distribution network Grow Farms assists family farms to remain sustainable by helping them to diversify and increase their operations. Grow Farms’ initial producing acreage is in Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee.

In recent years we’ve expanded the local growing initiative to other parts of the country including Texas, Florida, and Georgia.

Grow Farms Texas is a joint venture between The Horton Fruit Company and Ciruli Brothers. This group has a keen understanding of the retail and foodservice sectors which allows us to provide our customers with reliable, flexible and customized services. Working with sustainable family farms in Texas and Mexico, Grow Farms Texas has year-round access to a full line of fruit and vegetables, warehousing, consolidation and repacking services. Grow Farms Texas operates out of the Amex facility which offers 95,000 sq. ft. of refrigerated cold storage.

Family farms supply consumers with the fresh locally grown products and help reduce food miles.
Grow Farms Florida located in Lake Worth, FL sources produce year-round from sustainable growers in Southern states (Florida & Georgia). We work closely with our growers in these states to grow and pack to the demands and specifications of our customers. Our southeast production means fresh produce is just a day away to most of the eastern U.S.

The Horton West operation is in Nogales, Arizona along the Mexican border. It is an ideal location for sourcing, inspecting, procuring, and consolidating fresh fruit and vegetables grown on sustainable family farms in Mexico, Arizona, and California. Operating out of a Primus-certified, 80,000 square foot warehouse (CMMV), Horton West can provide both fresh produce and logistics in order to streamline the buying process.
